This is a Magnificent 19th Century GERMAN Art Nouveau Biscuit Jar by the renowned silversmiths WMF of Germany, ca 1890; finely crafted in silver plated with a blue glass insert wonderful hand painted with enamel following the naturalistic Art Nouveau style with floral and Bacco decorations. The top cover and handled four-footed stand are in top condition and absolutely shiny silver-plating; hallmarked with the WMF factory marks at the bottom. Measures 22 cm high by 28 cm handle to handle. An absolute most for collectors!WMF is the abbreviation for Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik, which means Württemberg Metal Factory and was created in 1880 in the small town of Geislingen on the river Steige (Geislingen an der Steige), after the successful merger of two smaller silver plate foundries.
