Silver Plate Inkstand & Double Glass Inkwells. Up for sale is this exquisite silver plate inkstand with double glass inkwells, made in England and dated late 19.

The silver plate inkstand has a. Hinged cover and button feet. Outside the inkstand, the dome-top and the edges of the cover are decorated with string stripes in relief to show metallic sheen.

Inside the silver plate inkstand when the cover is open, a removable rack with an engraved number 4 underneath (not shown) is seated to place the double glass inkwells in square shapes, the rims of which are also silver plated. There is an eagle engraved on the front side of the inkstand. The bottom is engraved "England" and "4" in combination with an eagle motif flapping its wings.

No other markings were found. But we guessed that the piece could possibly be identified as Sheffield. Measures: Inkstand, 4 ¾" wide (across widest parts) x 2 ½" deep x 3" high; Inkwells, 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" x 1 5/8" high; Weight, 1 lb & 3.4 oz (550 grams). Condition: Very good and clean, without chips to glass inkwells, no wear to silver plate inkstand.
