For your consideration is this stunning antique late 19th c. Silver-plated butter dish with original cut crystal glass insert. The lid is engraved with delicate leaves. The butter dish has silver-plated brass overlay. Trompe l'Oeil wood branches.

Hallmarked underside of lid with 1813 above oval with inscription in Polish "FRAGET W WARSZAWIE" ("FRAGET IN WARSAW"), and GALW for galvanised silver; a two-headed eagle (coat of arms of Russian Empire) and letter N for normal thickness of silver-plating. In 1896 the firm of Józef Fraget participated in the All-Russia Trade Fair in Nizhnii Novgorod and was honoured by the right of using the image of the Russian State Coat of Arms (two-headed eagle) on its products. Condition:very good preserved for its age. Normal scratches on glass; small nicks/bites on inner part of the rim of glass shown on last pic. Please, be sure to view all photos carefully as they are included as part of the item description. Measures: 8" x 4 1/2" x 2 h. Only glass insert is 5 1/2 "x 3 1/2" x 1 1/4.
