Today we're offering a fantastic scarce, EAPG tobacco jar humidor, circa 1890's. The silver plate lid is marked underneath with Graham Mfg. We don't know who made and decorated the glass as it is unsigned but most likely it was made by one of the early Connecticut glass makers. It's rare to find these jars in anything but clear glass.

The pattern is spot optic. The color is deep cranberry, almost ruby. The lovely repousse lid and collar have not been polished. There are some dents in the lid here and there as pictured but the silver plate is in good condition. The enamel painting on the glass looks to be a berry bush of some kind.

It looks like there may have been a bit of gold accent that has faded away. The glass is not UV reactive.

There are many large bubbles and straw marks in the glass which attest to it's age - it's really wonderful and appears to be in good condition with no damage we can find. The jar with lid stands 7.5 tall. And 4.5 across the base.
